Violence against women is one the most critical topics in Georgia today. According to the MIF recent statistics, which, by the way, reflects only a small part of reality, because often aggrieved party, especially in Georgia, avoids filing a claim against a family member abuser, during the period 2007-2014 are recorded 1102 facts of violence, including 2223 individuals.
The number of men abusers is 1014, women – 82. During the mentioned period victims of domestic violence were 1010 women and 117 men.
Both local and foreign media widely covered the rally-performance “Womens’ Voice”, organized by Georgian women, which was aimed to attract attention of the state and the society towards the problem.
